Who Can Apply?

Summer Rising is a free program available to all New York City residents attending school in grades Kindergarten through 8th grade. For summer 2025:

• Summer Rising programs will be coordinated by New York City Public School and the in partnership with the Department of Youth & Community Development.
• Programs are in-person, full day programs, designed to bridge students back to school in the fall.
• Staff members will be prepared to assist students with their social, emotional, and academic needs.
• Programs will offer academic support, as well as arts and outdoor recreation.
• Students will participate in local field trips (parks, pools, outdoor venues, etc.) that are in accordance with New York State Health and Safety guidelines.
• All students will be provided with breakfast, lunch, and a snack.

Siblings

We will do our best to place siblings in the same CBO program when requested via the families’ program preferences in the application.  Be sure to check the box indicating the students are siblings after completing the first student’s application. This will ensure they are linked as siblings in the system.  This is only applicable for siblings in the same grade band (K-5 and 6-8). If your children are in different grade bands a sibling priority may not be applicable.
